Carrier Bag Practice

Bags designed and made for the participants of a series
of conversations conducted around the topics of carrying and holding.

Inspired by Ursula K. Le Guin’s The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction.

“Do you need a thing to hold something (literal or metaphorical) ?”

“A leaf a gourd a shell a net a bag a sling a sack a bottle a pot a box a container. A holder. A recipient.”1

The finished pieces were gifted to each participant – a small thank you for the generosity of thoughtful conversation.
